Recording Samples: Audacity and SD Card

The audio samples below illustrate two different recording methods:

Recording via Audacity

  • Format: WAV (uncompressed PCM)

  • Duration: 45.9 seconds

  • Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz

  • Channels: Stereo

  • Bitrate: 1,411 kb/s

  • File Size: 8.1 MB

  • Compression: None

Recording via SD Card

  • Format: MP3

  • Duration: 50.9 seconds

  • Sample Rate: 44.1 kHz

  • Channels: Stereo

  • Bitrate: 96 kb/s

  • File Size: 0.61 MB

  • Compression: Lossy

Listening Comparison

The recording made with Audacity is stored in the WAV format without compression, preserving all of the captured audio data. The recording from the SD card is stored in MP3 format, resulting in a much smaller file size thanks to audio compression.

These two samples demonstrate the difference between an uncompressed audio file intended for production or archiving purposes and a compressed format optimized for storage and distribution.
